9 Years of Breastfeeding’s Naked Truth
It’s been a while since the last time I wrote something about my daily breastfeeding journeys with the glam-mamas I’m coaching. Whether she’s a first-time mom, second-time or a third-time mom with me. 🙂
Everyday is a mix and twist of something new combined with the uniqueness of cases and goals that I’m handling and witnessing from the moms and babies… And guess what?
It’s my 9th year anniversary as a Breastfeeding Coach !!!
Wow! God is so gracious to me! He is my influence. My promoter and senior partner.
Let me tell you this… As I mentioned before, I had a major operation which discourages me to do my work but in God’s grace, the moms I’m seeing regularly waited patiently for me to be in good shape and same for those who’s calling me for a session. But I went back coaching and assisting them even when I am not yet 100% fully recovered.
My ONE Naked Truth of my Advocacy: My strong passion in helping moms to persevere in producing milk and breastfeeding their precious child.
I am not worried about any of my discomfort and limitations as the moms are mutually very caring on my situation and they really make sure that I’ll be safe when I do our session… My passion.
To all Expectant Mothers/Couples… Fathers-Husband and the rest of the family members including your Yaya/Midwife, here is the Naked Truth.
Which of these applies to you?
- I’M TIRED… I Want to Sleep at Night
- I’M SICK … Asthma, Allergy and Fever
- I’M WORKING… I Can’t Expressed Milk
- I Thought… I Heard… I Was Adviced and I Don’t Know…. Mentality
- I’M NOT YET READY… To have a baby and I can’t do it
- DADDY… I want to bond with my baby so please I will do bottle feed him/her
- Yaya says, “The baby is still crying, I’ll feed him/her more milk”
- Family members say, “baby needs to gain weight”, “crying baby is a hungry baby… give bottled milk…” “You don’t have milk… It’s OKAY to give formula”
- Pediatrician … No weight gain (2weeks) or only 20-30% gained weight
I will be very brief on each so you can write and add yours….
THE NAKED TRUTH OF… Sleepless nights. It’s a mindset. You need to accept the fact that more or less you can’t have the luxury of sleeping 6-8hrs during the first week because there’s your little boy or girl that needs you. Human incubation is the best! (Skin to Skin) is now a protocol in any hospitals.
THE NAKED TRUTH OF Being Sick … Read and have informed choices to that there are only few medicines that are contraindicated while you’re lactating and you can always consult with your OB-GYNE or Pediatrician to support you in continuing breastfeeding or expressing milk.
I’ve coached moms with juvenile diabetes, hypertension, liver cirrhosis, eczema, aneurysm, mastitis with abscess and cancer survivor. I have witnessed their perseverance, determination and sacrifices. Neither these moms nor I had the easy way to figure how we can successfully increase their milk production but I made sure to always empower these women and support them all throughout the process.
THE NAKED TRUTH OF … I’M WORKING, I can’t express milk.
When I’m hearing this from a mom on the phone asking me question if she can increase her supply or if it’s even possible when working? I smile before I answer and I always say, “it depends on you!” I’ve seen Call Center Moms, Stewardess and Entrepreneurs which classified as rare professions to successfully lactating/breastfeeding but fortunately I have helped most of them to successfully breastfeed their babies. “Are you busier than these moms?” Let me know if you want their secrets and techniques how they overcome such challenges and reached their 1 year goal!
And THE NAKED TRUTH OF… I’m not yet ready to have a baby and I can’t do breastfeeding! Hearing this and that or “I can only do it for 1 month”. My piece of advice is to take it one day at a time. You will never know what will happen then. Some, they surpassed their goals and the rest just make it happen!
My key motivation is to tell myself to persevere and keep my endurance to cheer, assure and support moms & babies and empowering them to nurture without giving the formula during the 1st four weeks.
May I take this privilege to say THANK YOU ! For all your trust to be of help and for makingbreastfeedingjourneys.com be on the first rank when you Google Breastfeeding Coach 😉
I am as proud as you all glam-mamas to mothers and babies! -Coach Z
